Gwendolyn Talbot Obituary

Gwendolyn Edith Talbot, 79, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on November 25, 2025, at her home at Ashby Ponds.
Born October 6, 1946, in Lowell, MA, Gwen was the daughter of the late Eleanor Morse Talbot and Charles Robert Talbot II. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1964 and the University of Arizona in 1971. Talbot settled in Manassas, VA, where she established and ran a highly respected private speech-language pathology consultancy for 50 years. From 1993 to 2011, she worked for Manassas Public Schools, bringing to her work deep compassion and professional excellence.
A lifelong advocate for human rights, Talbot founded the National Chronic Pain Outreach Association in 1975, was active in Soroptimist International, and contributed work for the clearinghouse efforts for the National Organization for Rare Disorders. Gwen was an active member of Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Church and a dedicated, lifelong member of Toastmasters International.
In 2021, Gwen moved to Ashby Ponds, where she maintained a vibrant social life, enjoying bridge, acting, and leading the Unitarian Universalist Covenant Group. Her curiosity, wit, generosity, and deep capacity for connection remained at the heart of who she was until the end.
In 2019, Gwen was predeceased by her brother, David Charles Talbot. She is survived by her sisters Carolyn T. Hamilton and Elaine T. Hasty and their husbands; sister-in-law Martha S. Talbot; nephews Roger Hamilton, Brent Talbot, Scott Hasty, Ryan Hasty and their spouses; nieces Amanda Adams, Barbara Carr, and Margot Nelson and their husbands; and six great-nephews and great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at Farmwell Hall at Ashby Ponds on December 16 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Toastmasters International.
