Hans William Lindholm

Hans Lindholm passed away (age 82) at his Waxhaw, North Carolina, home on October 1, 2025, surrounded by family and love.
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Hans entered the U.S. at Ellis Island in 1947 with his mother and sister. They settled in San Francisco where Hans graduated from Novato High School in 1960. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of California Berkeley (ROTC) in 1965 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years. During his military career, Hans served as an artillery officer in Vietnam for 2 tours and served aboard the carrier U.S.S. America deployed to Yankee Station. Amongst his medals earned were the Bronze Star with "V" and gold star, the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He earned a master's degree from American University in 1974.
Hans retired from the Marine Corps with the rank of Major in 1985 and then transitioned into the information technology field before retiring in 2001 while residing in Northern Virginia. He was an active volunteer with hospice in Loudoun County.
Hans is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan Lindholm, and by children Tanja Nocco (Keith), Bjorn Lindholm, Katrina Lindholm, and stepchildren Jason Wengel and Ann Lorello (Mark), and beloved grandchildren Matt Nocco, Mia Nocco, and Nathan Lorello. He is also survived by sister Inga Solloway. He loved and shared his home with multiple dogs and cats throughout his life. Hans was preceded in death by his mother Inga Svanberg Lindholm and father Hans Eugen Lindholm.
