It is with profound sadness that Alessandra Gieffers and Marin Moradel, MD announce the death of Hans-Peter Guttmann, a beloved nephew, brother in spirit, cherished friend and extraordinary soul. The Lord called him home on August 15, 2024 at the age of 69.
For over 26 years: Marin Moradel had the honor of knowing Hans-Peter as a friend and brother in spirit. Our journey together was one of shared laughter, trials and memories that shaped the very core of who I am today. To say he will be missed feels like an understatement as his presence was one of strength, kindness and unwavering support.
Hans-Peter's life was a beacon of light. His generosity, infectious laugh, wisdom and helpfulness touched the lives of everyone fortunate to know him. His love for helping others was unmatched, and he carried those passions with a dedication that inspired many.
Hans-Peter was a gifted writer and computer designer. Besides assisting many clients with their writing projects, he composed a book of images/graphics representing his thoughts and reflections. This book became a photo album and graphical diary that he entitled "Reminiscences from the Time of the Plague".
At the time of his sudden death of a heart attack, he had just completed a fascinating family essay he entitled "The Cigarette Case Queen Marie Sent to Leon Guttmann in 1933."
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on October 23, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4835 Mac Arthur Blvd. NW, Washington, DC 20007.
His interment will be on October 25, 2024 in our family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ.

This news breaks my heart, because we just had our 55th OLV reunion on September 6 and all of us would love to have seen Peter. Rest in peace, dear classmate.

Peter was a good friend. We kind of lost touch a bit after OLV. While at OLV we decided to enter the OLV Science Fair together. Our project was model rocketry. Try as we may we couldn't get the thing to ignite and lift off. We had to write it up stressing how scientific failures are still beneficial to the advancement of science! RIP Peter Guttman.
