HELEN HIGGINS Obituary


Helen Higgins  January 30, 1930 - December 22, 2021  
Helen Schrider Higgins (Age 91) died peacefully on December 22, 2021. She was born and raised in Washington, DC and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1951, and Master of Fine Arts, 1955, at The Catholic University of America. Helen was a talented artist who expressed her passion for the arts through daily painting, drawing and sculpturing. A creative and generous person, she was dedicated to faith, family and education. Helen was an active member of The Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament in Washington, DC and Our Lady of the Seas Catholic Parish in Buxton, NC. Helen is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Arthur Higgins; her parents Charles and Mildred Schrider; and her brother Howard Schrider (Fredrika). She is survived by her children: Jeannie Harris (Jim), Michael Higgins (Heather East), John Higgins (Kathy Schultz), Mary Higgins (Jay Townsend), Anne McMahon (Bill), Paul Higgins (Rose), Peter Higgins (Kathy Gray), Susan Reeves (John), Clare Morton (Mike); her 14 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Gifts in her memory can made to The Christ Child Society of Washington. A funeral mass will be held on January 7 at 11 a.m. at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 5949 Western Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20015, with a visitation with the family beginning at 10 a.m. James Funeral Home of Huntersville, NC is serving the family. https://www.jamesfuneralhomelkn.com/
