Hope Smith Obituary
HOPE HAYES SMITH
Hope Hayes Smith died peacefully at home in Silver Spring, MD on April 8, 2022, from lung cancer complications. Beloved daughter of the late Bradley B. Smith and Hope R. Smith. She is survived by a brother Michael J.A. Smith (Kathie) of Maywood, NJ; two sisters, Sister Anne Mary (aka Sallie) Smith, IHM, of Silver Spring, MD, and Mary Theresa de Andrade (Robby) of Rehoboth Beach, DE. She also leaves to mourn her passing sisters-in-law Patricia Ryan Smith and Joyce McCarten, in addition to many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Hope is preceded in death by her brothers Bradley B. Smith, Jr., Raymond R. Smith, and Walter R. Smith, nephews Ryan Bradley Smith, and Robby de Andrade, Jr., and great niece Rebecca Hope Smith. Hope's unconditional love and kindness will be missed by her family, friends, and many, many former students!
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. W., Silver Spring, MD (valet parking). A one-hour visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 followed by Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 10103 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hope's name to benefit Dr. Benjamin Levy's oncology research at Sibley Memorial Hospital, https://sibleyfoundation29887.thankyou4caring.org/pages/honor-a-loved-one or Montgomery Hospice, www.montgomeryhospice.org/donate.
