Dear family,
I am very sorry for your loss. You have my deepest sympathies. The Bible assures us: "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt YOU in due time; while YOU throw all YOUR anxiety upon him, because he cares for YOU." (1Peter 5:6,7)

When I completed 5th grade in Mrs. Adams' class in 1983, the best surprise was learning that she'd also be teaching my 6th grade class the following year. She was and will forever remain a favorite teacher; and someone who genuinely made me not only want to be a better student and person, but to actually succeed at it. Thank you, Mrs. Adams, for being the kind of special teacher many kids never get the chance to meet. I'm one of the lucky few who did, and your lessons are still with me these 30 years later, and forevermore. God bless you and your family.

Hortense will forevermore be in the hearts and minds of hundreds of teachers, children and families, especially at Deerfield Run. She was a mentor, a leader, a phenomenal teacher and friend!

My sincere sympathy to the
family. Hortense & I grew up in the same neighborhood & she was like a big sister & friend to me. She would often check papers that I wrote or give me advice about school. She was a special person. I am so glad I got to talk with her last year for the first time in years. May she rest in God's arms. Marva Brydie McCoy

My heartfelt condolence and prayers go out to all her family -husband, children, grandchildren and siblings - and all others
who loved Hortense. She was a truly beautiful
person. May you be comforted by the memory
of a life well lived, though ended much too soon. God bless and keep you in his care.

My condolences to the Adams family. May the God of comfort ease your pain as he comforts and sustain you during your grieving process. Remember his promise at Isaiah 30:19 ...He will without fail show you favor at the sound of your outcry; as soon as he hears it he will actually answer you." Soon will be the day when he will swallow up death forever and remove our tears, pain and sorrow.
