Issa Malki Masoud

On Friday, May 10, 2024, Issa Malki Masoud, of Derwood, MD, passed away. Issa was the beloved husband of Alice, devoted father of Malek (Lisa), Mazen, and Maher (Jenny) and cherished grandfather of Spencer, Kadin, Marcus, Luke, and Andrew. He is survived by his brothers Jack, Ibrahim, and George; and sisters Rihaneh and Tarize.

Issa was born in Bethlehem, Palestine on November 20, 1936. In 1948, at age 12, his family became refugees forcing him to leave school to help support his family. After a period of uncertainty, his family settled in Iraq. Working various jobs to help support his family, he became a tailor, refining his craft until he opened his own store. He married Alice on August 30, 1964. Issa settled his family in America in 1979 with hopes of creating a better life for his 3 children. Issa was a Master suit maker and tailor for all his career, tailoring suits for various prominent figures including President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. He was an avid reader and history enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family; his wife, sons and grandchildren adored him greatly.

Issa was preceded in death by his parents Malki Masoud, of Medin, Turkey and Dalal Masoud of Bethlehem, Palestine, and his brother Hanna. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all of us. We will forever remember, honor, and adore you. Memorial funeral service is scheduled for Monday May 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Saint Aphraim Syriac Orthodox Church in Alexandria, VA. Burial to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
