J. Rickard Obituary

August 12, 1953 - February 20, 2024

Scott Rickard, a warm, kind, and fun-loving soul, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 with his family by his side. He found joy in boating, sailing, and classic cars, but his true happiness was in the company of family and close friends.

A Celebration of Life for Scott will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Kensington, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.

Scott is survived by his college sweetheart and loving wife of 46 years, Lisa Ann Rickard; his sons Jack Taylor Rickard of Washington, DC, and Justin Moore Rickard of Altadena, CA; his daughters-in-law Ayse Ikizler and Taryn Rickard; his grandchildren Summer (5), Levi (3), and Ophelia (2); and his sister Sherry Rickard Aasen of Solomons, MD. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Florence Rickard and John Bentley Rickard.

Scott's educational journey took him from Harmony Elementary and Middletown High School in Middletown, NJ, to Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where he was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta. He furthered his education with a Master's in Engineering Administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Throughout his career, Scott excelled in architectural and engineering design management, overseeing major projects for the World Bank, Red Cross, and the Ronald Reagan building in Washington, DC. He also traveled to American military bases overseas to supervise design projects.

A devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church in Kensington, MD, Scott will be remembered for his passion for automobiles and his love of sailing, power boating, and jet skiing. He found true bliss at his home on the St. Mary's River in Drayden, MD, where he spent time with family and friends alongside his beloved wife, Lisa. Together, Scott and Lisa also enjoyed exploring the world, creating cherished memories both at home and abroad.

Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
