J. Smith Obituary

SMITH J. THOMAS SMITH (Age 69) Of Chambersburg, PA, died Thursday, March 5, 2009. Born February 24, 1940 in Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of the late Clifford Vincent and Helen Rose Denning Smith. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era and was then employed as a Communications Field Engineer with NASA from 1965 until retiring in 1997. Thomas was the loving husband of Carole L. Kohut Smith; beloved father of Matthew T. (Susan) and Mark V. (Kendra); grandfather of Ryan, Brian, Grace, Connor, Justin, and Nolan; brother of Helen Marie Nelson, Cynthia Pauler, William, Sonny, Gardy, and Stanley Smith; son-in-law of Hilda Hammett Kohut. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 9, 2009 in Corpus Christi Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment with Military Honors will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, St. Mary‘s City, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to John Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, c/o Dr. Luis Diaz, Suite 234, 100 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. Carol and Boys, I am so very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He now is resting peacefully at home in heaven. My heart goes out to all of you in this so very sad time. Please let me know if there is anything that Norris and I can do for you anythime.
