JAMES EDWARD BRODERICK

September 17, 1936 – October 27, 2022

James E. Broderick was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late James Joseph and Edna Mae (Kelsey) Broderick, where he was raised with Irene and Patrick. He was full of Irish charm, and had a mind as sharp as a whip with much humor to spare. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from CCNY and a Master's from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During retirement he earned a Master's degree in history, focusing on Kennan's cold war containment policy. He served in the Air Force and enjoyed professional endeavors in engineering and the energy industry, including Pratt & Whitney, United Technologies, MITRE, and Texaco Alternate Energy, retiring in 1996.

Dad married our mother, Rosemarie, in 1957 and raised four children; moving from New York to Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, returning to Connecticut in the early 1980s. He appreciated hiking, classical music, carpentry, and wood working. His work broadened horizons, traveling to Europe and East Asia. He negotiated with challenging customers and had many stories to share. Sadly his marriage did not last, and he later married Patricia Emerich, who passed away in 1993. At the time of his death he was married to Maria de Fatima where they lived in Brookfield, Connecticut, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Southbury, Connecticut. We are further saddened that our loss began several years ago as he suffered medical challenges that tragically led to his children, grandchildren and great grandsons missing his most recent years. Dad has been and always will be remembered as a loving father who showed how to navigate through life experiences and learn valuable lessons.

He leaves behind his wife of over 20 years, Irene, and Pat, Rosemarie and children - Mary (Jim), Jimmy, Diane, and Ginger (Eric); grandchildren - Christopher, Rebecca (Richard), Stephanie, Jim, Joseph, Abigail, Jennifer, and Meghan, and great grandsons Declan and Camden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be November 28 at 10:30 a.m., Nativity Catholic Church, Burke, VA followed by interment at Fairfax Memorial Park. We are consoled knowing that he is at peace, as our good Lord makes everything new again in the promise of everlasting life.
