1941 - 2021

PARSONS James Morgan Parsons III May 29, 1941 - September 28, 2021 Even when bravely fighting that insidious disease, Alzheimer's, Jimmy never lost his sense of humor. His family were with him when the light went out in this remarkable man. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anne Snape; his daughter Jennifer and her husband Albert; his son Douglas and his wife Dawn; and his five grandchildren, Dylan, Laird, Isla, Tucker and Rylie. He also leaves behind his sister, Shireen, and her children, Christopher and Aline Allen. He was predeceased by his father, George Ragsdale Parsons, and his mother, Tahmineh Irani Parsons. Jimmy was born and raised in Washington, DC. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Kogod School of Business at American University in 1964, he went to work for the commercial mortgage banking firm of Ivor B. Clark and Company in Washington, DC. In 1966, he joined the Washington office of James W. Rouse & Company Inc. as a commercial mortgage banker, financing office buildings, shopping centers, apartment complexes and warehouses. In 1968, he launched his own company, Morgan Construction Company, with a partner to build single family homes in Montgomery and Prince Georges County, Maryland. Thereafter he began building warehouses with two other partners primarily in Northern Virginia, developing a portfolio of investment grade properties over the next decade. He was well respected by his colleagues as a youthful, fit, optimistic, energetic developer, known for his methodical management style of his portfolio. He retired to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2002. Jimmy loved to play poker, body surf in the ocean, take long walks on the beach, play golf, and fish. As a world traveller, he had visited China, Tibet, Hong Kong, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, the U.K., Scandinavia, Africa, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, India and many Caribbean islands. Friends and family enjoyed how he could morph ordinary stories into tales of magical reality; his laughter was contagious, his heart kind and generous, his intellectual curiosity was insatiable, and his love for his family and friends knew no bounds.
