Jim Pattisall was a beloved teacher, mentor and friend to me. I will miss him! He made a singular, indelible loving impact on the course of my life. We met in 1965; he was my 12th grade English teacher and tennis coach. After college, we became friends and he helped me get a teaching position in Fairfax County and then one working with him for a year at Annandale High School. Subsequently, through friends, he helped me realize my dream of a community college counseling position in Chesapeake, Virginia that was a wonderful twenty-five year career. We stayed in occasional touch over many years. Jim is among the handful of people in my life whose nurturing support and kindness shaped me in ways I am forever grateful for.
A memory: My adult life was in Virginia Beach and Jim's in Northern Virginia and we remained only in occasional touch between 1975 and 2021, so what a serendipitous treat it was, while jogging at the Oceanfront about 1984, to come upon Jim sitting by the sea and enjoying the reunion that we had. Thanks for it all Jim!
