Jim Power was from another era of American public life. It was an era he helped create. It was an era epitomized by the development of public interest doctrine and the refinement of its delivery to the American people. Jim Power carved out a mission for himself and those around him: it was to humanize the law and put it at the service of working people in America and across the globe. The universe he helped create defined what some now call "soft power." A fitting name for the real American power, founded on the compassion he brought to pubic life, withering now in the absence of the dedication and integrity he represented. America and the world missed him long before his passing.
Magnificent, Jim.
