James Walton Obituary

1947-2025
Passed away August 14, 2025. Born in Whittier, CA, Jim moved to Washington, DC in 1984, but considered himself a lifelong Californian. He loved the beaches, the Central Coast and the Eastern Sierras. He was a man of many talents - decorated Vietnam Vet, longshoreman, Pi Sigma Alpha member, political campaign manager, lobbyist, chicken dinner deliverer but most of all a good friend. Jim was known for his dry wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was a master story teller. He had a beautiful, resonant voice, and had sung in the choir at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and The Georgetown Chorale. Possessing a most discerning palate, Jim loved fine food and wine, but never looked away from a good burger, bbq, or dive bar. He was a loving and generous man who lived to make the world a better place. He had an abiding love for his family; his beautiful and accomplished daughter, Colleen and his lovely and loving wife, Eileen Albanese. Jim is survived by his sister Betsy Bartscherer (Ted), niece Katherine and nephew Thomas. Memorial services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and in So Cal in spring of 2026. Please email [email protected] for information. Charitable contributions may be made to Kino Border Initiative, Jesuit Refugee Services, Whittier College or to the charity of your choice.
