Janet Y. Taylor May 7, 1940 - June 9, 2023

Janet Y. (Cormany) Taylor, 83, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday. She was born in Gaithersburg, MD, daughter of the late Carl and Aloyd (Neal) Cormany. She married Bordie Taylor, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Surviving are a daughter, Diane Chewning of Hollidaysburg; son, John Hamblen; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two nieces: Mary Grant and Nancy Fullen; nephew, Phil Proffitt; six grand-niece and nephews; and two great-grand-nieces.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Hamblen; a sister, Judy Proffitt; and a grand-niece, Barbara Coleman.

Janet retired from INS as a Program Analyst after 26 years of government service. She was active in the Hillcrest Apartment community.

Janet loved her family, crocheting, and decorating for every holiday.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday June 13, 2023, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. A public Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at National Memorial Park: 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA.
