Janie Wooden Obituary
Peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday August 4, 2024 at her home in Silver Spring, MD. She was born on April 5, 1920, to the late Mamie Louise Allen McCants and Jesse Clark McCants.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Williston Wooden, parents and niece, Diane McCants Gerald. Dr. Wooden leaves to cherish her memory three nieces: Denise McCants Scott, Patricia McCants McIntosh, and Cheryl Broadway, a host of grand and great grand nieces and nephews and cousins and other wonderful relatives and treasured friends.
Dr. Wooden will lie in state at New Bethany Baptist Church, 1300 10th St, NW, Washington, DC 20001, on Saturday August 17, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Final resting place at Maryland National Memorial Park in Laurel, Maryland. Services entrusted to Stewart Funeral Home.

Our sincere prayers of comfort extended as we celebrate our phenomenal cousin Janie we had opportunity to be at past reunions with her and Lonnie then later her Friends accompanied her. We exchanged calls a d cards staying in touch and also visited her at Ryderwood,, she was such a iconic Lady with so many talents she was always inspiring us to aim High and do our Best, her lasting legacy will live on thru the many family and friends Rest in Peace and Power as our Angel of achievement Charles and Dannielle and Andrea and Grace

I just read a letter yesterday that Janie wrote to my aunt in Braceville, Ohio when she was ninety two. My great grandmother, Lula Murray Barnes, was related to the McCants somehow. But, I send my condolences to the family and I am sorry that I didn't get to meet Janie. My prayers are with the family.
