JAYNE MURRAY MONAHAN  
Jayne Murray Monahan, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep on December 10, 2012, in Decatur, Georgia. She was born July 15, 1921, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was raised in Washington, DC. Jayne was a 1943 graduate of Trinity College in Washington. After graduation she worked for the Navy Department during the war and traveled the country recruiting women to work in clerical positions for the Department of Navy. In 1946 she married Thomas Graham Monahan, Jr. (Tim). They raised their five children, Nancy M. Isom, Barbara K. Monahan, Patricia E. Zepp, Joan C. Jurusik, and Timothy A. Monahan, in McLean, Virginia. While she was raising her children, she was the ultimate volunteer. At various times Jayne was President of the St. John's Catholic Church Women's Council, President of McLean Swim and Tennis Club, and President of McLean High School SPTA. Her passion was her life long volunteer service to the American Heart Association. She was also very active with the Red Cross, the Democratic party, and numerous other charities. When Tim died in 2001, she moved to Decatur, Georgia to live with her daughter, Nancy. Survivors besides her five children include 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She will in buried in Arlington National Cemetery next to Tim.

It was deeply saddend to hear about Mrs. Monahan passing. She was a wonderful lady. I have fond memories from my high school days visiting my friend Joan and her mother always there greeting me with a big beautiful smile. My thoughts and prayers are with the families at this difficult time. God Bless
