Jean Alexander Obituary

Jean Alexander, born on November 14, 1926, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 and thus ruining her 99th birthday. She waited until all of her family could be with her so we suspect she just didn't want to have a lot of fuss…which was her way.
She was a longtime resident at HomeCrest in Silver Spring where she enjoyed living independently until COVID hit.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to ALL the staff at Autumn Lake HealthCare at Oak Manor in Burtonsville, especially to her main caregiver, Hanna Beshah, for all the love, support, and care shown to Jean and her family.
Jean was a proud member of her local DAR who kept her up to date on all the goings on even after she was no longer able to participate.
She was a long time member of Cedar Lane Unitarian Church in Bethesda and was a faithful member of the choir. She sang tenor!!
Jean retired from her job as an editor and theater critic for the Montgomery County Sentinel and, at one time, was Bob Woodward's editor when he was there.
Not only was she noted for her skills in music and fiber arts, Jean volunteered for numerous community organizations including, but not limited to, Friends of the Local Library and Brookside Gardens.
She is survived by her two sons, grandson and their spouses.
If you would like to remember Jean then please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held privately.
