JEAN REDDING Obituary
JEAN YVONNE REDDING
On Thursday, May 15, 2014, Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Beloved wife of late Gorman Redding, MD; devoted mother to G. Joseph Redding, Jr. (Crystal), Michael A. Redding, MD (Angela), Cynthia A. Redding, and the late Deborah J. Redding. Sister to Dawn Geiman and the late Robert Descheemaeker, Sr., both of Hanover, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica, Kristen (Craig Burkin), Bryan, Elizabeth, Devon, and Andrew Redding. Jean worked with her husband in their medical practice in the Alexandria-Mt. Vernon area for nearly 30 years and was a mother and mentor to many. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association or Catholic Charities. A service will be held on Friday, May 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA followed by a ceremony at Mt. Comfort. Jean was one of the most special people in my life. I will miss her so much. She and Gorman were my best friends and I can never forget the wonderful trip we had to France. What a special blessing you were to your dear mom - and her to you. From experience I know as children we are never old enough to say good-bye to our beloved parents. I am so sad that you are gone but I know you are with Gorman and Debbie and that you are not in pain any longer. I was one of the many friends you took under your strong wings. I was a family hairdresser and friend for over 38 years. Jean, you were a Mom to me. I will never forget your words of wisdom and our conversations about life and politics. Thank you for teaching me the fine art of cooking. You made everything look easy. I know you will be looking down and watching over all of us, especially the ones that were blessed to have known you.
