DR. JEANNETTE CROWE GIBBONS of Moneta, VA died February 13, 2003 following a brief illness. She was 69. Born in Benedicta ME, Dr. Gibbons graduated from Husson College in Bangor ME. She received her Master's degree and Doctorate degree from George Washington University in Washington D.C. A teacher for more than 30 years in Maryland and Virginia, Dr. Gibbons taught most recently at Stewartsville Elementary School in Goodview VA. She leaves a son, David Gibbons of Cambridge, MA; two daughters, Patricia McLaughlin of Byfield, MA and Catherine Warner of Frederick, MD; a brother, John Michael Crowe of Benedicta, ME; two sisters, Lou Welch of East Millinocket, ME and Rose Drew of Oakfield, ME; and five grandchildren. A memorial service was held in the Resurrection Catholic Church, Moneta, VA on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at 2:00 pm. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the educational fund or the charity of one's choice. OAKEY'S FUNERAL SERVICE & CREMATORY of Roanoke, VA is in charge of arrangements.
