I just found out today that Jerry passed away and I'm so sad to hear. I was a nurse who worked with him in the operating room at GW during the 80's. I also helped him in his office and will always remember making him tuna on crackers before he saw his afternoon patients. He was a great inspiration to me when I left nursing and has been a solid support to me for the past 30 years. My condolences to the Canter family. He will be missed by many.

I'm a 78 year old retired internist. As a young physician I soon learned that Jerry Canter was the finest General surgeon in D.C.; He was always professional, a gentleman and I always knew my patients were in good hands. I have fond memories. Barrett L. Burka, M.D.

Dr. Canter did my breast cancer biopsies and surgeries for many years (as well as my mother's before me). He always made me feel like I was his only patient. When I was diagnosed with cancer he was invaluable. He was dearly loved. - Kathy Moran
