Jesudoss Gabriel Obituary

Jesudoss Gabriel, 83, of Washington, DC, died peacefully in his home on October 30, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving sons, daughters and grandchildren. He was born in Vettavalam, India on December 25, 1940 to Gabriel Sellamuthu and Teresa.

He immigrated to the United States in 1993 with his wife and two daughters. He worked for The Catholic University of America, from where he retired in 2011, after working for eighteen years. He lived a faith filled life devoted to his children and grandchildren. He spent his retirement traveling to France, where he loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren and other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Teresa; wife, Marie Josephine; brothers, Abel, Mariaswamy, Periyanayagam, Anthoniswamy, Lucas, Boniface, Louis, Linus; sisters, Philomena and Louise Mary; late brothers-in-law, Joseph Basile, Lourdessamy Basile, Mariasoucce "Dannyboi" Basile and Irou Basile; late sister-in-law, Antoniammal "Imma" Adaicalessamy, and is survived by his children Sagaya Vijayan (Isabelle), Felix (Beatrice), Louise, Philomene; grandchildren, Mathieu, Louise and Lucas; sisters-in-law, Susairegina Gabriel (late-Mariaswamy) and Sirumani Gabriel (late-Anthoniswamy), Mavis Basile (late-Joseph), Gracy Basile (late-Lourdessamy); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, family and friends, in India, France and the USA.

Visitation: November 5, 2024 from 9 to 11 a.m. Funeral Mass: November 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. Visitation and funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Interment in France.
