Admiral Addams was one of the finest gentlemen I ever met. Truly a remarkable Naval Officer and a class act. He left the Navy a better organization than he found it and he will be missed.

Truly a gentleman at all times, John maintained his sense of humor through the roughest of times. He will be sorely missed. We will miss our annual visit with him when we visited them in Virginia. We were happily their neighbors for years and enjoyed dinners with them and especially Mary Ellen fixing her famous ham and biscuits. We know we will see him again.

Mary Ellen and family, our saddest thoughts go out to you all. John and Georgeanne Pearson first met John and Mary Ellen as the initial crew for USS William V. Pratt was formed. In our 35 year Navy career, he still stands out as the best friend, shipmate, and leader through it all. We know that the good Lord has a special place for him in Heaven. We loved John and Mary Ellen dearly and he will be sorely missed.
Our deepest sympathy to all of you, John and Georgeanne Pearson

Mary Ellen: John Mitchell here. I was Admiral Addams' Chief Engineer aboard COCHRANE, and he was my hero and mentor. I offer my condolences and want you to know how greatly I respected and admired the Admiral.
