John Patrick Bedinger

John Patrick Bedinger of Reston, Virginia, died at Reston Hospital on July 18, 2023, at the age of 83. He passed away peacefully after two years of challenging medical conditions surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katherine Lewis Bedinger "Kathy", daughter Lisa Bedinger Duckworth, and son Michael Sean Bedinger. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Bedinger, Sam Bedinger, and Nancy Wiblin, grandchildren Mara Duckworth, John (Jack) Bedinger, William (Liam) Duckworth, Katherine Duckworth, Reese Bedinger and Ryan Bedinger; Son-in-law William (Will) Duckworth and daughter-in-law Julie Bedinger, his niece Sarah White, and nephews John Alford and Michael Bedinger. John is preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Edna W. Bedinger, and granddaughter Emily Duckworth. John was born on March 29, 1940, in Charleston, West Virginia. He graduated from Marshall University with a BA in Political Science. He was living in Washington, DC, and working for Honeywell when he met his wife, Kathy. After their marriage, they lived in Washington, DC, then moved to Illinois, where their two children were born. In 1972 they moved to Reston, Virginia, where they have been long-time members of the Reston Community. John worked for various Department of Defense contracting companies for 43 years, retiring from Raytheon in 2009. He enjoyed many lifelong passions, including fishing, travel, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Services are being scheduled.
