JOHN CRYSTAL Obituary
JOHN WINTERS CRYSTAL
John Winters Crystal, son of loving mother Diana Winters and loving dad Steven A. Gutten-berg, and brother of loving sister Kim Winters Crystal, born February 6, 1978, died July 24, 2013. He suffered cardiac arrest on July 21, 2013, and never regained consciousness. John was a graduate of Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD and the Gunnery School in Washington, CT. He attended Babson and Occidental Colleges and the Arizona State University. John was greatly admired by his many friends, family members and coworkers and could al-ways be counted on to help them in any way he could. He had a wonderful quality of being able to make all who encountered him feel at ease. He will be remembered for his intelligence, beautiful eyes (he was voted " best eyes" by his high school class of 1996), infectious smile, athletic ability, sense of humor, culinary prowess, and his generosity and sweetness. John was a self declared organ donor and those who received his lungs, kidneys, liver and pancreas will live as a testament to his life. John is also survived by his grandmother Gertrude, stepsisters Alyssa and Amy, half brother Zachary, father Ronald Crystal and family members Michael, Nicole, Kate, Ed, Jo, Lisa, Tim, Curtis, Marie-Pier, Martin, Colette, Scott, Agatha, James, Joseph, Charlie, Angelina, Dede, Danny, Vicki, Bill, Ken, Melissa, Lauren, Ryan, Dan and Crystal. An open Memorial Service will be held for John at the Cosmos Club on August 10, 2013, at 1 p.m. Please rsvp to [email protected].

Sharing mutual friends, I'm happy to have met John on a few occasions. I'm sure that he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

I spent a post-graduate year with John at the Gunnery. Great kid and always had a smile on his face. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the opportunity to spend just one night with John on a double date and knew very little about him. I can only imagine how painful it must be for all so close to him. The short time i had to spend with John i understood that he was a genuine, caring, and down to earth individual. I only wish I had another opportunity to get to know him better. He has made me look at things differently in my own life and has made value the shortness of life. I want to live life to the fullest and let John smile shine threw me.
