JOHN DOEG Obituary

JOHN HOPE DOEG
John Hope Doeg passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home in Savannah, GA on January 23, 2021. John was born in Newark, NJ on November 20, 1933, and moved to Washington, DC shortly thereafter. He graduated from St. Albans School in 1951, and attended Princeton University from 1951 to 1955. He served for four years in the Army, stationed in Poitier, France and after his honorable discharge, he graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1959. John's career in the securities industry spanned more than 40 years in Washington. He co-founded The Three Seasons social club, and was a past member of the Chevy Chase Club and the Metropolitan Club. He enjoyed golf, tennis, and bridge, and loved his DC sports teams. He was an active participant in the churches he attended, having served on the vestry of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Washington, and as a choir member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and Christ the King Church in Great Falls, VA. A generous man who loved helping others, John is survived by his loving wife Linda, his sister Daphne Doeg Kraft of Palm Beach, FL, his daughter Merrilee Ladd (Paul) of Lexington, KY, his sons, Paul Doeg of Asheville, NC, and Christopher Doeg of Woodbury, TN, and his four grandsons.  A memorial service was held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Skidaway Island, Savannah, GA
