John Philip Guy
John Philip Guy of Rockville, MD, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the age of 94. John was born on May 15, 1928, in Washington, DC, and was the eldest of three children to the late Louise Brown and Erwin Alexander Guy. John served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948 and went on to graduate from George Washington University. For over 40 years, he worked as a pharmacist for Peoples Drug/CVS in Rockville, MD. John loved the Redskins, traveling, and, most of all, his family. And he always had his camera on hand to capture memories on any occasion.
John was the beloved husband of Marie S.D. Guy, devoted father of Nancy Lounsbury, Anita Coleman, and John A. Guy. Loving stepfather of Mark, Matthew, and Christopher D'Amico. John is survived by his sister Erma Caldwell, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie O. Guy; daughter, Mary Laflin; grandson, Chuck Simpkins; great-granddaughter, Hope Pearce; and great-grandson, Dylan.
The family will receive friends at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave, Rockville, MD, on Wednesday, April 26, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Living Word International Christian Church, 16819 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20905, on Thursday, April 27, at 12 noon.
