John Kenny Obituary

Kenny

John J. Kenny "Jack" (Age 84)

John J. Kenny, formerly of Arlington, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. Martha's Manor, Downingtown, PA. His passing was very peaceful and he carried his trademark dry wit with him right until the end.

Born in Port Jervis, NY on November 9, 1938, he was the son of the late Dr. Clare and Cecilia (Hlavaty) Kenny. John was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam era. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, and went on to graduate from Georgetown Law School. John was a well-respected Legal Editor for the Bureau of National Affairs for 32 years, and those who heard him speak came away with a greater knowledge of the subject and an appreciation for quality oratory skills. A man of strong faith, he was a devout Catholic who used his faith to support others. Having been sober for 45 years, he sponsored many others struggling with the same issues he had faced. In his spare time he was an accomplished fisherman and loved supporting his favorite baseball team, the Washington Nationals. An avid reader of mysteries, he can now ponder the mysteries of the hereafter.

Surviving are his siblings Jane Sheeran of Downingtown, PA, Michael Kenny (Joyce) of Mobile, AL, Will Kenny (Linda) of Robbinsdale, MN, and Judy Kenny (Vince) of Wynantskill, NY; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Kenny.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to the Georgetown University Law Center, Office of Advancement, 600 New Jersey Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001. To leave online condolences, please visit
