JOHN RAYMOND Obituary


Colonel John A. Raymond  United States Army (Ret.)  
Of McLean, Virginia, died of prostate cancer, on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in his home. He was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1935 to Colonel Montgomery Raymond and his wife, Sally, and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1958. He enjoyed a successful career as a field artillery officer in the U. S. Army before retiring in 1987. His service contributed to the more than 150 years of unbroken military service to our country by the Raymond family.Col. Raymond is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children, Greg Raymond (Beth), Gen. Jay Raymond (Mollie) and Janet Dougherty (Bill). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jean Ryan and a brother-in-law, Bill Ryan.A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 9, at the Vinson Hall Chapel in McLean, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
