JOHN KING RECTOR, III "Buster"
On Friday, June 15, 2012. Beloved husband of 58 years of Theresa A. Rector; father of John Bibb (June), Joan Rector McGlockton (William) and the late Keith Rector; brother of Reid C. Rector (Jeanne); grandfather of John Bibb, Lauren and Jillian McGlockton; uncle of Michelle Rector Hawkins (John) and Anne Rector Evans (Everette). He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. On Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 1 to 2 p.m. Friends may call at Nativity Catholic Church, 13th & Peabody Sts., NW, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Howard University School of Law, c/o The Office of Development, 2225 Georgia Ave., NW, Suite 901, Washington, DC 20059, Attn: Elizabeth Matory. Aunt Theresa, Joanie and family, you have our love, support and prayers unconditionally. With fondest memories of your visits to New Orleans Pre-Katrina and Uncle Buster, Aunt Theresa, Keith, Joanie and the girls, learning your "roots & discovering family". Aunt Theresa, you were Vio, mom's dearest friend from St. Mary's days and the Sisters of the Holy Family and Auntie Girl Garcia were also your family. Uncle Buster shared and left a piece of himself with everyone he touched... a gracious giant we are so blessed to have known. Thanks for sharing. Love and miss y'all.

What a Wonderful Man,
Always keeping in touch to see what's going on in Maryland or with the kids; attending any function that we have; making sure we stay connected to the family. I will miss your phone calls; but I know now that you are at rest.
To the family, may your hearts be filled with thoughts of Buster's fond spirit and caring heart. Cherish your memories of him forever (I sure will), for he is an angel in heaven making things happen.

Joan,
About two years ago, your Mom and Dad treated Karen and me to a Sunday lunch at Clyde's. I got to drive the Buick! What a wonderful man.
But the most telling part of our time together that day was the way his eyes would light up when he talked about his Lauren and Jilly. They need to know how much he loved them and how much that love counts when it comes from a person of his history.
I have only known Mr. Rector for about five years. But I will relish his very mindful time -- sometimes just talking with me.
Please accept my sincere condolences and know that we will be missing him together. Karen and I now are part of your family because of your Mom and Dad's contribution to our spirit.
