I have been reflecting on the many fond memories I have of Johnnie from the period of my youth. A quiet man, good natured, and tolerant of youthful indiscretions. I can not recall ever seeing him without a smile on his face. He invoked a joyful noise unto the spirit. He will be sorely missed by those he's left behind and joyfully received by those who await him. My sympathy to the Epps and Riggins families.

2 Timothy 4:6-7 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Veora, on behalf of Willie F. Battle and the late Ellen H. Battle and children of North Carolina, we extend our heartfelt sympathy on the passing of uncle Johnnie. We are sorry that we cannot be with you on the homegoing celebration service but our prayers are with the family. We are grateful to have shared many, many great memories of uncle Johnnie when he visited North Carolina. Continue to be encouraged and trust God. We love you (Wanda, Ervin, Lewis, David, Norris and Bob).
