Joseph Chek Obituary

CHEK JOSEPH JOHN CHEK (Age 83) Died Sunday, August 30, 2009 in Bethesda Maryland. He was born September 14, 1925 in Nanticoke, PA. Served in the Army in the Pacific in WWII as TSgt, later commissioned as 2nd Lt in the Air Force Reserve following completion of his baccalaureate. He worked nearly 40 years for the Department of State as a Department Head. He retired to his home in Bethesda, where he lived until his death. He was an active parishioner in St. Matthews Cathedral in Washington DC for much of his life. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthews Cathedral at 10 a.m. on September 3. He will then be transported to his hometown of Nanticoke, PA for a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on September 4. Guests will gather at 9:30 a.m. in the Kearney Funeral Home in Nanticoke on September 5. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph''s Catholic Church. Burial will take place in St Joseph''s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends are requested to make a donation to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. Please indicate that the donation has been made on behalf of Mr. Joseph Chek, 10314 Farnham Drive, Bethesda MD 20814.
