I loved your father as a professor. He was fascinating to watch lecture as he so carefully guided us through a classical text. He was a delightful man with a clear sense of what is right and was willing to act on it. He will always hold a special place in my mind and heart. I wish I could have given him a last hug and called him "sir" once more. Alana Northrop professor emeritus of Political Science

He epitomized and displayed the things that transcend time - modesty, decency, gentlemanliness, and serious, deep penetrating thought. As such, he too, transcends time in his way. Yet I will miss him very much.

As a sophomore in college I had the pleasure of taking Professor Cropsey's Modern Political Thought class. Changed my entire intellectual frame of mind. A wonderful professor and human being.
