Joseph Fabiszewski Obituary

Joseph Edward Fabiszewski, Jr. "Joe Fab", 72, passed peacefully of pancreatic cancer at home on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Palmyra, Virginia. Joe was preceded in death by his mother Rhoda Fabiszewski, father, Joseph Edward Fabiszewski, Sr. and sister, Anne Fabiszewski.
Joe is survived by his wife Kay; brother, Jim Fabiszewski and sister, Mary Fabiszewski and Joe's son Joshua Creel; and his three grandchildren, DJ, Piper and Jordan. Joe's nephew, Max Fabiszewski, niece, Hannah Fabiszewski also mourn Joe's passing along with cousins and close friends.
Joe was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 4, 1951 and grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland where he graduated from Robert E. Peary High School. After briefly attending the University of Maryland and The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, he chose to pursue a career in theater management and production. Joe worked at the Harlequin Dinner Theater, was the general manager of the Wax Museum Nightclub in Washington, DC and went on to produce events at the National Theater, the Kennedy Center, Ford's Theater, the Source Center, RFK Stadium and others. For nearly 20 years, Joe wrote and produced the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree.
Throughout his career, Joe shared a professional (and sometimes personal) relationship with politicians, singers, actors and fellow producers. He cherished his very special personal friendship with Dr. Maya Angelou for over a decade.
While working with and sharing friendships with folks well known to many of us, Joe's passion was working with and telling the stories of everyday people.
Joe shared his talents and helped many in their creative endeavors and together millions of people have been impacted around the world. Although Joe is credited with writing, producing and directing many projects, he is perhaps best known for his film Paper Clips.
A celebration of life will be held sometime in 2024.
