JOYCE CAPPELLARI

Joyce Pascone Cappellari  
Died on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Reston Hospital Center. She was the daughter of Peter and Helen Pascone of Raleigh County, West Virginia. Joyce was born on January 12, 1935. She was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She received a degree in elementary school education and it was there that she met and married her life-long husband, Joseph Cappellari. After moving to the Washington, DC area, Joyce Cappellari began a career in teaching in Montgomery County, Maryland and retired from her chosen profession following 25 years at Herndon Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia. Her retirement years were filled with a variety of activities ranging from spending time with her grandchildren, organizing her immediate family's weddings, attending many family and school reunions, vacationing and weekending at various mountain and beach locations. Joyce and her husband Joe particularly enjoyed their many "football" weekends with family and friends over the years. All the while, Joyce continued to indulge her favorite pastime of producing mouth-watering meals and pastries, many from family recipes, both Italian and Hungarian, passed down through the years. And her life-long love of flowers and animals, especially dogs, continued until her passing. In addition to her husband, Joe and her sister, Lucille Rinich, Joyce Cappellari is survived by her son, Joseph Jr., her daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Kenneth Johnson, and her son, John and daughter-in-law, Stacy. Joyce also leaves her six grandchildren, Samantha, Joseph III, John Jr. and Thomas Cappellari, and Spencer and Madelena Johnson. A memorial service for Joyce Cappellari will be held at the Fairfax United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on March 17, 2018.
