Juline Larsen (Age 87)

Juline Larsen died on May 2, 2023 at the age of 87. She is greatly missed by her husband for 46 years, John Hornstein, and by her family and friends. Her gentle cheerfulness and insightfulness, her friendliness, her compassionate nature, and her love of literature, art and music endeared her to those who knew her. Her father worked for the Dept. of Agriculture, and served as an agricultural attache at US Embassies in Sweden, Iran, and possibly others. As a result, some of her teen and college years were in Sweden, which she loved, and where she learned Swedish, and in Iran, when the Shah was giving away some of his land, and where she witnessed political instability, and in Lebanon, where she attended the American University in Beirut. Later she obtained a BA in Russian literature at George Washington University, followed by a BA in Library Science at American University (in Maryland), and, much later, a BA in interior design at the University of Maryland in College Park. Her subsequent business was named Pemberly Interiors, because she loved the novels of Jane Austen, and reread all of Jane Austen's published novels every year, in a fixed seasonal sequence.
