JUSTIN ROSS Obituary

ROSS JUSTIN MICHAEL ROSS Justin Michael Ross of Charlottesville, VA, passed unexpectedly, from a suspected cardiac event, on Friday, March 26, 2021. Justin is survived by his best friend, soulmate, and long-time partner Jackie Bright, his beautiful two-year-old son, Dashiell Brighton Ross, his mother, Victoria Ross, his brother Bryan Ross, an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of wonderful friends, who have all been left shattered by his sudden absence. Justin was born on April 23, 1980 in Annapolis Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, majoring in Engineering. He held an Advanced Sommelier Certificate (CMS III) and was an incredibly gifted wine connoisseur. He dedicated his professional pursuits to the hospitality industry, with an inspiring eye for detail and an infectious enthusiasm for guest satisfaction. A small sampling of his career highlights include opening his own award-winning restaurant, Parallel 38, which became the youngest restaurant to receive an invitation to cook at the prestigious James Beard Restaurant, working with Jose Andres in Washington, D.C., and most recently being appointed to serve as the General Manager for the highly anticipated restaurant partnership between award-winning Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Keswick Hall, set to open in summer of 2021. Justin was beautiful, thoughtful, funny, wicked smart, delightfully mischievous, huge-hearted soul, famous for his hugs, and constant, conscious, compassion. He was an avid hiker and biker who loved the outdoors, loved to travel, read, and cook, and especially loved his four-legged friends. He unabashedly loved the Red Sox and Tom Brady and most importantly, he loved to spend time with his family and friends, sharing a meal and a glass of bubbly. In an effort to fulfill his wish to establish a college fund for his young son Dash, a fund has been created. Please consider supporting this campaign in lieu of flowers or other gifts. I don't have the words to express how broken my heart is learning that Justin passed away. Justin was my best friend growing up. More like a brother than a friend. I don't have a childhood memory that doesn't include Justin. Vicki and Bryan I'm so sorry for your loss. Even though I hadn't seen Justin in a few years I still consider all of you as family. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Anything I can do to help please don't hesitate to ask.

With love,
Bryan Taylor
