KATHLEEN B. POYDENCE BRIGGS  (Age 64)  
Of Ashton, Maryland, formerly of Apollo, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Born February 27, 1957 in Natrona Heights, she was a daughter of the late Frank S. Poydence and Julia (Jakubek) Poydence. Kathleen was employed at a radio station WGAY/WRC from 1981-1996, then worked for the Four H Council, Philips Publishing, and last worked as a 4th grade teacher for the Montgomery County School System, retiring in 2016. She also worked as a private tutor, and for Montgomery County teaching English as a second language. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Krys Briggs; brothers, Ernest "E.J." Poydence of Latrobe, Stephen Poydence of Hyde Park, Edward Poydence of Apollo, Jerome Poydence of Vandergrift, William Poydence of Alexandria, VA, Ronald Poydence of Apollo, Gregory (Melonie) Poydence of Vandergrift; sisters, Carol J. (John) Hollenbaugh of Washington Township, Sandra Poydence of Falls Church, VA, Deborah (Mark) Greenawalt of Apollo; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father Vincent J. Zidek, O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Gilpin Township.
