Kathryn Shibley Obituary

Kay died on January 4, 2025, of an infection. She was born on August 31, 1945, and raised in Chicago. She graduated from Brown University and earned a master's degree at the University of Chicago. Her career was as a psychiatric social worker for Arlington County.

She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Paul Hill Chorale, among other groups. She was active at her children's schools; she was PTA President at Columbia Elementary and was a regular volunteer at TJHSST for a decade. Her pastimes included following the news, completing crossword puzzles, and reading the New Yorker.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Francis. She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Maloney (Brian); her son, Stephen Francis; three grandchildren, Callie, Conor, and Patrick; and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Greenspring, 7420 Spring Village Dr., Springfield, VA. She may be honored with a donation to a charitable cause.
