KEITH CARR Obituary

KEITH ARMISTEAD CARR
Keith Armistead Carr died Saturday afternoon, October 28, 2017, at Suburban Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kate (the former Kathleen Ann Walsh); five children: Kelly Carr and her husband, Bryan Sherbacow of Washington, DC; Alice Gray (Carr) Lemay and her husband, Roland of Cape Cod, MA; Margaret (Carr) Shannon and her husband, Richard of Smyrna, GA; Keith Armistead Carr, Jr., and his wife Cameron, and Thomas Walsh Armistead Carr of Washington, DC; and a loving grandfather to six grandchildren: Stuart Lemay, Davis, Lemay, Hadley Sherbacow, GiGi Sherbacow, Evan Shannon and Ellie Gray Shannon and two sisters, Linda Page Carr of Washington, DC, and Virginia Dugdale Roy of Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother, Stuart Carr. Upon graduation from St. Alban's School in 1959, Mr. Carr attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi social fraternity. He maintained a heartfelt devotion to St. Alban's School (where he was the starting center on the STA 1958 ICA undefeated championship football team) and Washington and Lee University for the rest of his life. Mr. Carr, like his father before him, went on to a successful career in the securities industry as an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch and later with Legg Mason and its successor firm, Morgan Stanley. Mr. Carr was a supportive and fiercely loyal friend, father and husband; a phenomenal listener and pragmatic thinker who mentored many friends and family on a variety of issues in their lives. His ability to listen and offer thoughtful advice was a true talent that he carried with him for life. Memorial Service at the Little Sanctuary Chapel at St. Alban's School, Saturday, November 4 at 4 p.m.

Dear Kate and Family,
Dan and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Keith's death this evening from friends. We were out of town without access to papers and therefore missed knowing about his death. We both adored his warm and generous spirit, his love of life and his fun-loving nature which was contagious. Never has a man loved his family so much. We will miss him. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Love, Cherry and Dan

I am truly sorry for your loss. In this world that we live in it is all to often that we lose people we love. But please take comfort in God's word at Matthew 11: 28 it says : " Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down and I will refresh you." Just one of many warm words and promises given to us from God's word.

Sorry to hear of Keith's passing. I met Kate through business several years ago. I did not know she was married to a former center at St. Albans. My oldest was the STA center as well, 2009-2011. Those years meant so much to him, too. Sorry for the loss of Keith, but glad to know that the STA connection is there. Sympathies to the family.
