Kevin Kenney Obituary

Kevin L. Kenney, of Alexandria, VA, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on February 28, 2024. Kevin was a news journalist. He was part of the WUSA-TV 9 team as an Assignment Editor for the last 14 years. Prior to WUSA 9, Kevin was an Assignment Editor for 10 years with WJLA-TV. His career included some Freelance writing with CNN and positions in Radio: Editor, Producer, Reporter, News Anchor, News Director at the following networks and stations: NBC Mutual Radio Network, Standard News Radio Network, WWWE/WLTF Radio, WKSW Radio, and WSLR/WKDD Radio. He was dedicated to his work and poured his heart into his responsibilities. He was fortunate to have good friends and colleagues and he will be missed by them.
Kevin graduated from Kent State University, Kent, OH with a B.S. degree in Telecommunications, (Radio-TV Arts). He enjoyed scuba, playing guitar and reading books.
He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army, active duty during the Vietnam War 1971-1974, then ROTC at KSU, and National Guard and Reserve 1977-1998. He retired with the rank of Major.
Kevin was preceded in death by Robert J. Kenney (father), Rose E. Kenney (Kaiser)(mother), Shawn F. Kenney (brother). He is survived by his sister Mara K. Kenney; brother-in-law Chris M. Maneval; and his beloved niece-Madeline L. Maneval.
Per his request, Kevin will have a military burial, at Quantico National Cemetery, March 22, 2024 at 11:30 a.m.
