Martha,
Randy and I have been long distance fans of the Longs and it is with heartfelt warmth that we send condolences and hugs to you from afar. I remember Kevin and I know that he was well loved and cared for by one of the most special people I have come across.

Dear Martha -- I am so sorry to hear of your loss! You and Kevin added much joy to my life, and Kevin gets special credit for introducing me to Latin and being my first and most important teacher of that subject!
May he rest in peace and the consolation of the Lord, and may you share that consolation as well!

Dear Martha,
All of us in the Starr family are so very sorry to learn of Kevin's death, and your tremendous loss. He was such a gentle, caring soul who was knowledgeable in so many things, but especially faith-related topics. We always enjoyed our conversations with him. Know that you and Kevin will remain in our prayers, as well as all members of your families. May he rest in peace in our Dear Lord's arms.

Martha, please know that Katherine and I are praying for you and Kevin. He was one of the most decisive influences in my life -- a mentor and friend, without whom I would not have entered the Catholic Church. I shall ever recall with sweetness my visits with you two at the Adobe de Palomares, where there was ever good conversation, good food, and good drink. Kevin has had a deep influence for the good on many -- and Our Lord, who is merciful and just, will not, I believe, forget this.
Qui docti fuerint, fulgebunt quasi splendor firmanenti, et qui ad iustitiam erudiunt multos, quasi stellae in perpetuas aeternitates -- "The learned shall shine as the splendor of the firmament, and they who instruct many in righteousness, will be as stars forever."

Dear Martha, Kathy and I really regret that we lost touch with Kevin and you, so long ago--can it really be 24 years? Time is indeed a strange thing -- "a single night in a bad hotel." We're praying for you both.

Martha,
Nuria and I offer you our deep sorrow. We are always grateful for the many occasions that Kevin (and you) helped us before and after our marriage, through his many many selfless gestures, like assisting Nuria to become a permanent U.S. resident and tutoring her in English. Mostly, though I thank you for enabling Kevin and I to have so many late night discussions over the years that helped me work through many questions about life.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies and prayers. I will always remember Kevin for his piercing intellect and delightful sense of humor. I am saddened by the fact that we lived so close but saw so little of each other. A truly great regret as I thought of Kevin often. May God bless Martha and his other relatives with peace. May he rest in Peace.
