KIRBY GATES Obituary


KIRBY KAY GATES (Age 80)  
On April 11, 2012 at 5:20 p.m., Kirby Kay Gates of McLean, Virginia passed. He was the beloved husband of Catherine B. Gates. His surviving children are, William K. Gates (Jacqueline DesLauriers) of New York City, Dora Marie Levesque (Paul) of Charlottesville, VA, Gregory S. Gates (Milissa) of Annandale, VA and Lucille Mary Gentry (Ronald) of Charlottesville, VA. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Gerard and Nicole Levesque, Natalie, Hannah and Zachary Gentry; Mary Catherine and Caroline Gates. He is also survived by sisters, Mrs. Nola Anderson and Mrs. Mary Anne Long and a brother, Dr. Robert R.Gates. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 18, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolftrap Road Vienna, VA. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to So Others Can Eat (SOME) of Washington, DC or Capital Caring Hospice of Arlington, VA.

All of us at SOME will miss Kirby who volunteered weelkly for many years serving the hungry. He believed in the Gospel that is where Christ said he is to be found - in the hungry and those in need.
We will miss him very much.
