In May, 2000 he was appointed Dean of the School of Philosophy and served in that capacity until his death. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles on Aristotle; he also wrote about Heraclitus and Plato, as well as the role of philosophy in priestly and academic formation. In addition to his work as teacher and administrator at The Catholic University of America, Father Pritzl also served the Dominican Province of St. Joseph in a variety of positions, including Regent of Studies (1993-1997), and member of the Provincial Intellectual Life Commission (1993-2002; 2004-2006). Having gone to St. Sebs, Pius and Marquette with Kurt, I remember him as the smartest, kindest and most caring person I could have known. Reading the other entries, I see that these wonderful qualities stayed with him and grew throughout his life. What a blessing he was to those around him! I was very saddened to read of his passing and extend my deepest sympathy to the whole Pritzl family. May he rest in peace.

As I read the comments about "Fr. Kurt" I chuckle remembering Kurt from high school. Ultimately the same wonderful man. "Mighty 9", "Moderation" as well as the learned scholar and great friend who helped me show my father around Washington, DC many years ago. God bless us, everyone.

My sympathies to Fr. Kurt's family and Dominican friars, who surely now find a place of emptiness in their lives. I know you say goodbye to your brother with great pride in the man he became. All of us who grew up in St. Sebastian Parish in Milwaukee share the same pride. Peace to you all!

My prayers to the Pritzl family and all of the friars. As a student of Fr. Pritzl's, but even more so as young Catholic, I have nothing but admiration and respect for this holy, humble, and inspiring man. He was one of the best professor's I have ever experienced, but more than that was a living witness of Christ's love. Pray for us from your heavenly home!

I was a former student of Fr. Pritzl at Catholic University. Some years after I graduated my mother died and Fr. Pritzl came to her wake. It really meant a lot to me. He was a very kind person.

Father Kurt was, simply put, one of the greatest men I have ever met. May he rest in peace. My prayers are with his family and his Dominican brothers.

Most of my recollections of Kurt Pritzl were during our days as graduate students in Toronto. I recall his gentle wit, his smile, his playfulness (in those days the Pink Panther provided great room for imitation), and his love for Aristotle's treatise on the soul and for the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas. His ordination to the priesthood as a Dominican was a gift to us all. Word of his constructive leadership as Dean of the School of Philosophy at The Catholic School of America, reached well into the heartland of the country. Ora pro nobis, Pater Kurt! Salve atque vale!

Kurt was always a great guy, a gentle spirit and a warm understanding friend. God is gaining another soul, and we are gaining another saint to reccomend us to the Father.

Fr. Pritzl was often the celebrant for Sunday Mass at The Fairfax, a military retirement community in Lorton, VA, where my inlaws reside. His gentle loving presence, his reverential celebration of the Mass, and his warm and engaging homilies made him much beloved by the Catholic community there. Even in the midst of his illness, he would reach out to the residents, responding to their concern for him, and he is much missed. But we know that he has gone to his Heavenly reward, the Lord's servant who has done no more than he was asked. God rest Fr. Pritzl's soul.

Kurt was an extraordinary man, and we are all lucky to have known him. He was best man at my wedding, baptized one (or was it two?!) of my children, shared many a conversation at our home when he was in the neighborhood. And his wry sense of humor was always accompanied by such a great SMILE! His courage and grace and good humor in the face of adversity will always be an inspiration. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Kurt was one of my best friends growing up attending St Sebastian grade school and Pius High School. You will never meet anyone more kind and gentle and loving than Kurt. Even though we didn't get to see each other much in recent years, he never forgot a birthday or anniversary. He will be missed.

I never knew Kurt because he was 2 years ahead of me at Pius. I certainly remember his name, from running for class president,"Pritzl for Pretzldent". I believe he had the lead roll in the play, Music Man. I admired him then even though I never knew him. Knowing he was such a good human being is heartwarming.

It was so good to see Kurt again this past December. The opportunity to laugh, eat reminisce and just experience Kurt one more time was unforgettable.

Our paths did not cross often over the past 35 years, but each time we met he was the same thoughtful, generous person who become a friend to so many people.

My life is much richer for having known Kurt. I know the world is a better place because he was here.

Peace be with you, Kurt.

I will never forget the kindness Kurt had for me and several other friends during our visit to DC years ago. He offered his home and his world and I will be forever grateful. When you love one Pritzl you love them all and Kurt was loved by many.
My heart goes out to his family in Milwaukee and his Catholic family in Washington DC. Our world will miss him as he was a special human being. May you find comfort knowing that he is at peace.

Father Pritzl married my husband and I on June 12th 1993. He was peformed the baptism of both my sons. He played a special role in our lives. He always spoke with love about his own family and our hearts go out to you now. His legacy lives on at Catholic University and in our hearts. Carol Anne, Bob, Bobby and Jack Kelly.

It was a blessing to see Kurt last weekend with two other friends. He still had the ol' sparkle and "roll of the eyes". What a warm and gentle person of faith! He was and is an inspiration to all who knew him.

Peace be with you, Kurt, as you enjoy the Father's loving embrace.
