Larry Miller McDonald

Larry Miller McDonald," Mac", Age 80, resident of Hyattsville, Maryland passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

At 9 years old, he was introduced to the Metropolitan Police Boys and Girls Club, where he journeyed for over fifty years from a humble club member to influential roles as Director of the renowned drum and bugle corps and Supervisor of the esteemed #2 Club. Larry loved to share his experiences and the rich history of accomplishments of the #2 Club that he would chronicle in his book titled Last Seen " The house that Jabbo built". Larry retired from the Department of Commerce, where he worked as a graphic designer for over 35 years.

Larry had a great sense of humor, loved sports, and had a keen eye for fashion. He also enjoyed spending time with family, walking and collecting coins and stamps.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Diana J. McDonald, his father, Edward McDonald, his sisters, Johnnie Mae Brown, JoAnne Thompson, his brothers , Clarence E. McDonald, Williams McDonald, and Ronnie Fewell.

Larry is survived by his daughter Kimberlyn McDonald-Coleman and her husband Alonzo Coleman; two grandsons, Bryce Coleman, and Alonzo Coleman; and his bonus daughter, Sharone Smith-Manning.

He is also survived by his sisters Daisy M. Graham, Deborah D. Kinard (and her husband, Keith) and Denellia Fewell, his brothers, John E. McDonald (and his wife, Anna), and Mark Duncan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service on Monday, October 27at 10 a.m. at Harvest Assembly Baptist Church, 8008 Fordson Road, Alexandria, VA 22306.
