Laveta Cumberland Emory (Age 85)
On Friday, January 19, 2018, of Grasonville, MD, formerly of Beltsville, MD. Beloved wife for 69 years of Francis L. Emory; mother of Catherine (Frank) Grasso, Francis (Holly) Emory, Craig (Theresa) Emory, Mary Bentley, Patricia (Tony) Mahdavi, Mark (Patty) Emory, Laveta (Kevin) Duke and Paula (Kenny) Cassidy. Also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Monday, January 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial Mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 630 E St SW, Washington, DC, on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road, NE, Washington, DC 20017. www.COLLINSFUNERALHOME.com

So sorry to hear of the loss of Mrs. Emory. She was the mother of my best friend, Cathy. I knew and can still remember the names of all the siblings. When your mom and dad moved from Beltsville, she gave me a big hug goodbye. I also went to Holy Redeemer. Again my deepest sympathies and love.

Love and condolences from all of us on the passing of Grandma Laveta Emory. Me, my wife and her 5 great grandchildren - Ethan, Clay, Griffin, John and Mitchel are holding her in our hearts and have been reflecting on her life and legacy over the last couple of days. She was a pillar of the Emory clan and will be greatly missed by many people.
