LAVON STRONG Obituary
LAVON B. STRONG (Age 84)
Died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his residence at Special Care Homes in Fairfax, Virginia.He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ann Stilwell Strong; daughters Susan (Bill) Hayden, Martha (Rickey) Tinney, Jane Strong and Bonnie Strong; brothers Billy (Carolyn) Strong and David (Debra) Strong; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife Anne Duncan Strong along with two brothers and a sister.He was born July 19, 1929, in Meadville, Mississippi, and graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. He holds master's degrees from George Washington University and from Auburn University.A veteran, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force and continued to serve his country in government roles, retiring from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1985 before beginning a second career as a financial planner with Manna Financial Services.An early member and Sunday School leader at St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Burke, Va., he chaired every major church committee, including serving on the Board of Trustees and the Administrative board, and played a key role in two major building campaigns.Services will be Thursday, March 20, 2014, at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 9203 Braddock Road Burke, VA 22015 at 11 a.m., and reception to follow. I was just thinking of Mr. Strong and the family the other day. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathies to you all. I can imagine there has been a Kings Park reunion with my folks, Mr. Gardner, Mr. Murphy, Mr. Ness and so on. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Jane, please know that our prayers surround you and your family.
Your dad was an talented man and shared his strength and wisdom throughout his life with those who were lucky enough to cross his path. We were so blessed to have his presence at St. Stephen's all theses years.
