Mrs. Young,
Late this week I received word on the passing of your husband Mr. Leon Young. He was better know to me as Leon. I was introduced to Mr. Young in May of 1974 as I began my career as a pipefitter apprentice at the Naval Research Laboratory. I was one of many, many young men that Mr. Young taught and influenced. He was a very special instructor and experienced tradesman who shared his wealth of pipefitting knowledge to each and everyone of us. As our instructor Mr. Young constantly emphasized to us the importance of quality workmanship and pride. He often reminded us to take the time to step back, look at our finished work and be proud of the job we accomplished. Please know that Mr. Young was a very special to me as well. In all the years that I had the privledge to know him, I can honestly say I never heard him speak a negative word, phrase and/or sentence. This always impressed me the most about Mr. Young. After completing my apprenticeship Mr. Young became both my friend and co-worker. The years I spent with him as a co-worker and friend I will cherest for the rest of my life. Mr.Young is one of very few men that I've met in my lifetime that have had such a profound positive impact on my life. Mrs. Young, please know Leon is truly in a better place. May God Bless you and your family for the loss of such a tremendous man. I will never forget Leon.

On Monday October 2, 2006 at approximately 6:10 am, Past Master
Leon Young, Sr. passed from labor to reward. I wish to thank all of the family, friends, brothers and sisters that have taken time out of their busy schedules to send wishes of condolences to myself and my family. I am especially thankful to my brothers of Thomas L. Johnson, Lodge no. 28 & Social Lodge No. 1 for the strong support during this time in my life. I truly feel the brotherly love. If you have every had the pleasure to meet my Uncle you would know that this was not just an ordinary man and proud mason. This was someone that I looked up to as I was growing into my Adult life. It is true that once my father passed when I was 15. My wonderful Uncle truly took up the torch and guided me to manhood. But it did not end there; he stood with me totally until God called him home. I am blessed to have had someone in my life that set such a great example of being not only a good Mason but a wonderful Man.
