Lillian Shanor Obituary

SHANOR LILLIAN V. SHANOR On Thursday, July 17, 2008, LILLIAN V. SHANOR, 85, of Strasburg, VA, formerly of Oak Grove and Springfield, VA, died peacefully at home. She was born April 23, in New Haven, CT to Stanley C. Clark and Florence Clark Ray. She was a member of Sydenstricker Methodist Church until moving to Colonial Beach and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and a member of the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge. She was a homemaker for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William P. Shanor Sr., and a grandson, Brian Shanor. Surviving are her son, William P. Shanor Jr. and his wife, Eleanor; her daughters, Lillian V. Targett and her husband, Melbourne; Laura E. Palmer and her husband, Richard; Delores Jean Birchall and Vivian Bower; a brother, William Clark of Bradenton, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers and contributions, the family would like the presence of family and friends at a covered-dish picnic at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Point Lookout State Park, MD.

I remember Mrs. Shanor from my youth at Sydenstricker UMC. In those days the church was the social focus of the community. Please accept my condolences on your loss.
