LORA SIMKUS Obituary

LORA D. SIMKUS
On Friday, December 29, 2017, Lora D. Simkus of Fairfax, Virginia. A beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. Simkus was a truly beautiful, loving and faithful person. She served under Henry Kissinger, and was a Special Assistant to Secretary of State George Shultz. She went on the historic first U.S. Presidential trips to Russia and China. An amazing gourmet chef, Lora was also an avid fan of the D.C. professional sports teams, especially her Washington Nationals. She will be laid to rest at Fairfax Memorial Park. Lora was very caring and extremely charitable. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Macular Degeneration Society and The American Red Cross.

For Lora's children Paige & Dennis: I am so very sorry to learn just now that your Mom passed away in December. I relished the days I spent working with her in Secretary Shultz's office and in our travels with him around the world. She was probably the smartest woman I knew in my 25-year career with the government. You have my very deepest sympathy.
